Projects

austal - fender replacement

JMC was engaged by Austal to supply and install 10 24m x 610mm fender piles, including steel fabrication of the piles at our specialised facility, on-site splicing and anchoring to the existing jetty.

We coordinated the project to ensure that the other side of the jetty could still be utilised by Austal and they could continue to operate unhindered.

We were contracted to complete the other side of the jetty a year later.

claremont yacht club - jetty a & jetty h replacement

JMC was engaged to demolish the existing structures and construct concrete topped jetties and one fuel jetty within approximately 20m of water. This included driving 166 new piles and installing new finger jetties.

We coordinated two barges and two cranes to undertake the work, while minimising the impact to the Claremont Yacht Club’s patrons and the marine environment.

fremantle sailing club - floating service jetty renewal

JMC was contracted by the Fremantle Sailing Club to demolish their existing service jetty and rebuild one with diesel, petrol, electrical, fire and water capabilities.

The project involved driving steel piles to attach a floating jetty with pontoons, and the disconnection and reconnection of the various services. This renewal markedly improved user facilities with minimal downtime and environmental impact.

point fraser

Jetty and Marine Construction was contracted to lay the supporting piles for Ku De Ta on the Swan River. This project saw 30 x 610mm piles and 30 x 323mm piles driven 24m below the seabed to ensure a stable foundation to construct the restaurant on.

Challenges arose from the shallow water in the area however JMC’s assets and expertise allowed for the project to be completed ahead of time with minimal disturbance to the public and environment.

Our skilled fabricators constructed a steel pile guide for our barge to allow piles to be driven with more precision and efficiency.

nornalup boat ramp

JMC was contracted by the DBCA to build a new boat ramp and canoe launching platform on the Frankland River in Nornalup. The remoteness of Nornalup meant JMS’s planning needed to be precise to ensure the project was able to run smoothly.

The soft mud around the site posed another challenge however the team was able to work through this, while still ensuring the project was completed to the highest of qualities.

warradale lake - timber jetty replacement

During the winter, a jetty on Warradale Lake was submerged in up to 1 metre of water and had deteriorated to the point of being unsafe.

JMC was hired by the City of Wanneroo to remove the existing timber jetty and build a new one that would not flood. It consisted of 24 piles, a jetty structure, and decking made from environmentally friendly timber.

Locals may now appreciate their beautiful surroundings thanks to this replacement.

swan-canning estuary shelfish reef restoration project

Responding to algae blooms in the Swan River (Derbal Yerrigan), The Nature Conservancy originally engaged JMC to install trial artificial limestone reefs as habitats for mussel shellfish, which filter the river's water.

Given the trial's effectiveness in improving water quality and producing thriving marine habitats, we were then commissioned to install 11,500 tonnes of these reefs in a full-scale operation.

This required strict operational criteria to minimise environmental effects (e.g., decreasing sand plumes), as well as land and maritime logistical issues, all while protecting Aboriginal tradition.

JMC is extremely proud of its accomplishments in promoting a sustainable ecology in our local waters.

fremantle fishing boat harbour sheet piling land reclaimation

JMC, under contract with the Department of Transport, erected 51m interlocking sheet piles, waler beams, and other structures to reclaim ground at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.

Our barge, tug, Movax pile driving equipment, and excavator were all used to install the Z-shaped piles, which interlock to prevent water ingress.

Vessels can now safely use the harbour's berths. Using our Movax also resulted in less noise disruption while we completed the project.

south of perth yacht club - wave attenuation system

JMC replaced the South Perth Yacht Club's wave attenuation system. We upgraded the old timber framework attached to the piles by fabricating 32 6m x 1.8m corrosion-protected steel frames to which vinyl sheets were affixed and clamped. JMC's in-house manufacturing capacity provides for meticulous attention to detail and the delivery of any necessary modifications in a bespoke and fast manner.

The project was finished with minimal environmental damage and interruption to the yacht club's patrons, who will benefit from the wave attenuation system for at least 35 years.

artificial reef development

Jetty and Marine Constructions were contracted to deploy 60 x 10 tonne concrete modules off Dunsborough and Busselton. Our barges, the B24 and Shaw II, were mobilised to Dunsborough and 10 modules each day were deployed in depths of up to 30 metres.

bombara wave attenuation modules

JMC was engaged by SUBCON on behalf of the City of Cockburn to deploy 135 3-tonne wave attenuating fringing modules at CY O’Connor Beach to help address over 50 meters of shoreline erosion.

In a world first, SUBCON’s specially designed Bombara modules were made with environmentally-friendly concrete and will simultaneously create marine habitats. In addition to installation, our contribution also involved loading and transporting the heavy modules while minimising our environmental impact.

the boathouse marina

A Pelagic Group company, The Boathouse is the first of its kind in Perth – a fully undercover, enclosed dry boat storage facility and private marina located in the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.

JMC demolished three existing jetties and built the piling, floating pontoons and finger jetties that comprise the marina component of The Boathouse. We also provided the water and electrical infrastructure.

rottnest island new year’s fireworks

Jetty and Marine Constructions provided logistical solutions for the transportation and staging of the first New Year’s Eve fireworks display at Rottnest Island, which was conducted on the waters near Thompson’s Bay.

rottnest island authority - stark jetty refurbishments

Stark Jetty on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) is for both pedestrians and berthing vessels of up to 10 metres. JMC was engaged by the Rottnest Island Authority to fully refurbish the jetty with 457mm mooring piles and jetty pile headstocks, while remediating the timber stringers and walers.

It was important to minimise the disruption to such a high traffic asset and the general operations of this iconic tourist destination.

Users will now be able to enjoy the jetty for at least another 30 years.

duratec - victoria quay sheet piling

JMC was subcontracted to Duratec to strengthen the existing Victoria Quay wharf in three locations for the Fremantle Port Authority.

Using a 35-tonne excavator and Movax pile driver, we excavated the materials and drove sheet piling into the wharf to the required depth.

We managed the whole process and overcame various challenges with differing ground conditions, with minimal disruption to the environment and Victoria Quay patrons.

city of bussleton - jetty refurbishment

JMC was contracted by the City of Busselton to refurbish and restore this iconic jetty by replacing the piles and fabricating a steel and concrete structure at the ocean end.

It included the supply and installation of 6m x 8m piles, associated steel jetty structures, and concrete decking. We also rebuilt the timber meteorological platform, replaced many walers and undertook general maintenance.

As a result, we significantly prolonged the life of a high traffic tourism asset.
